Our Children’s Division is for our students, ages 2 to 7 and students 8 to 12 years old, in Beginning to Advanced Beginning levels of technique.. The curriculum has been carefully created to develop imaginations and motor skills appropriate to age and development while fostering a love for dance.The building blocks for ballet, dance technique and life begin here! Students may start as toddlers with creative Toddler n’ Me classes.

Tuition
Contact us for our latest discounted tuition rates for families.
- There is a $50.00 annual registration fee per individual due at the time of enrollment. The fee is waived for students who register for the new school year during the VIP Registration Period.
- Our school year begins mid-August and continues through to the end of May. Tuition is calculated as an annual amount, taking into account holidays and studio closures.
- We thank you in advance for making timely payments utilizing our automatic payment system. If your family chooses not to be on auto pay, there is an additional $35 administrative fee per month.
- Your First installment is due at the time of registration. The nine remaining tuition installments are due on the first of each month, September through May.
- Students registering mid-month should do so through the office. Our Registration Software cannot calculate pro-rated tuition.
- There are no refunds or adjustments for missed classes or studio closures. As a courtesy, we offer you the option of making up any missed classes in a comparable class. SPAA allows for one week’s worth of class hours to be made up per calendar month. Make-ups for scheduled closures and classes missed due to Academy productions are not permitted.
- The studio office must be notified via email on or before the day of the absence to ensure class credit. Make up classes are available to currently enrolled students only. The make-up class must be taken within the same calendar month as the missed class.
- Make-Up classes cannot be used to forgo tuition for the following month.
- Tuition, Production and Camp fees are NOT transferable or refundable and there are no refunds for unused Tuition. Thank you for thoughtfully considering your commitment prior to completing your registration.
- Checks or Credit Card payments returned for any reason incur a $35.00 transaction fee.
- Students are obligated for a full semesters’ tuition even if they withdraw before the end of the semester.
- If you decide to withdraw, written notice must be delivered via email to academy@scrippsballet.com by December 15. You may withdraw effective February 1 with the understanding that there will be no refunds for any unused tuition. Withdrawals can only be processed at the end of the Semester.

Dancewear is only appropriate attire for inside the dance class. All students are required to wear street clothing or coverups over their leotards and tights. Coverups will also help keep their tights and dance wear clean and hole free. Being outside in a leotard and tights, especially after a class when your body is warm can lead to illness or cause injury to muscles. All students are responsible to present themselves in a professional manner at all times, including to and from class.
Girls: Cap sleeve, Tank or Camisole Lilac SPAA leotard, (purchased in office)
Footed pink or flesh-toned tights with coordinated Pink or flesh tone ballet shoes, Hair in a neat bun. Skirts and Tutus are not permitted. Class Tights: Capezio 1916C or 1916. Performance Tights Bodywrappers C45/A45 or C31/A31 in Ballet Pink.
Boys: Light Gray or Lilac SPAA Logo dance shirt, black tights, and black ballet shoes
Ballet Shoes are not to be worn outside of the dance studio. Dirt and rocks from outside are damaging to the special flooring required for dance. Cover Ups should be worn over tights and leotards to and from the studio.
Commercial Dance (Jazz, Tap, Modern, Hip Hop, Contemporary)
Girls: Solid, form-fitted top. Crop tops and bra tops are not to be worn alone by dancers under 15 years of age. Jazz pants, leggings or shorts. Tights should be worn with shorts that fall above the knee. Slip-on jazz shoes, No sneakers
Baggy pants or sweatpants are permitted for Hip Hop only. Hip Hop students should wear jazz sneakers or black-soled tennis shoes

Make Up Class and Important Policies Overview
Make Up Policy
All Tuition is Calculated Annually and Divided Evenly into Monthly or Quarterly Payments Regardless of the Number of Weeks in a Month, Taking into Account all Scheduled Academy Closures.
Make-Up Classes are offered as a courtesy, ONLY when the office is notified of the absence on or before the day of the missed class. This includes holidays, illness and Academy closures.
Students are allowed to schedule ONE make-up class, per class, per month to be completed within the calendar month of the missed class.
There are no make-up classes for Thanksgiving week, winter, and spring breaks.
Water
Dancers should bring their own bottled water, clearly labeled with their name.
Summer Dance Classes 2025
2024 Summer Session has ended. Dates for 2025 will be available in January.
Ballet II-Ballet III
For students 8 to 12 years old, in Beginning to Advanced Beginning levels of technique, the focus is on preparing students for successful entry into our Lower Division technique classes. Additional classes in Jazz, Tap, Hip Hop and Musical Theatre are introduced to broaden students’ creative expression and exposure to the performing arts. All classes run a Full hour in length. Multiple, optional performance opportunities are available for all interested students.

Toddler n’ Me (24 months to 3.5 years)
A delightful way to introduce your child to the world of music and the arts!
Pre-Ballet ( Ages 3.5-6)
Introductory Class focused on developing coordination, rhythm, creative movement & Pre-Ballet, while having fun cultivating a love for dance in a nurturing environment. This class develops motor skills, needed for success in any style. Select classes also include an introduction to Tap, which helps develop musicality and rhythm.
Ballet K-1 (Kindergarten through First Grade, Ages 5-7)
Introductory class that focuses further on coordination, rhythm, creative movement and Pre-Ballet, with exercises more focused on preparing the child for ballet movement. Select classes also include an introduction to Tap, which helps develop musicality and rhythm.
Ballet I (Ages 7 and up)
Introductory Ballet class that focuses further on coordination, rhythm, creative movement and vocabulary, with exercises more focused on preparing the child for ballet movement.
Ballet II (Ages 9 and up)
Beginning level Ballet Class that further develops concepts introduced in Ballet I, including additional terminology and further development of the basics of Ballet, while creating a solid foundation in movement and a continued love for dance.
Ballet IIA (Ages 9 and up, by invitation or placement only)
A more Advanced, beginning level Ballet class for students entering their second or third year in Ballet II. More advanced concepts are introduced. Students must be placed in this level AND attending Ballet technique class two or more times a week.
Ballet III (B & A levels, Ages 10 and up)
Advanced-Beginner Ballet Class that continues to work on perfecting the basics of Ballet, while introducing new terminology and steps. Students will be introduced to more complex barre and center work.
Progressing Ballet Technique, PBT 1 (Ballet II)
Progressing Ballet Technique is an innovative program developed by Marie Walton-Mahon for students to understand the depth of training muscle memory in achieving their personal best in classical ballet. Students will need a properly sized Fit/Yoga Ball, Yoga or Pilates Mat and Medium Resistance Theraband.
Jazz-Tap 1/2 (Ages 8 and up)
Beginning level Jazz/Tap combo class. Jazz/Tap is offered as part of a combination class with Tap dance, and also a more advanced hour long version by itself. Students continue to focus on basic flexibility, coordination, and choreography.
Hip Hop K-2 and Hip Hop 1/2 (Ages 8 and up)
Teaches rhythm, coordination & age-appropriate hip hop choreography. After warming up with isolation exercises and stretching, using popular music, the class will move across the floor to work on rhythm, strength & funky footwork.
Musical Theatre 1 (Ages 6-8), Musical Theatre 2 (Ages 9 and up)
This class teaches the fundamentals necessary to build a strong foundation in theatre. At the end of each semester, students will prepare a themed Informal Presentation. Placement or Approval required for Musical Theatre 2.
