My daughter has been dancing at SPAA studio for over four years, and it has been a fantastic experience for her! The instructors are incredibly talented and supportive, creating a positive and nurturing environment for all the students.

The performance shows are a highlight of our year, showcasing the hard work and dedication of both the students and the staff. The choreography is always creative and impressive, and it's clear how much effort goes into making each performance a success.

We couldn't be happier with our experience at SPAA studio. It's a wonderful place for anyone looking to learn and enjoy dance. Highly recommend!

My daughter has been attending since she was 4 in a mommy and me class. The teachers have been fantastic, not only instilling love for the arts but also discipline and emotional support as she has progressed tremendously and even faced injuries. I also love the focus on performances over competitions. I would highly recommend Ms. Miah, this academy and the affiliated Scripps Ballet Company.

Our daughter attended the Musical Theater Summer Camp for the first time and absolutely loved it. She was so excited after the first day she couldn't wait to perform for us. They did some arts/crafts in between but most of all, she loved the singing and dancing. We enjoyed the final performance and the kids all seemed to enjoy it as well. My daughter liked the songs in the Trolls movies, thus we signed up for this theme. I thought there would be more lines/acting in addition to singing and dancing, but realize that this was geared towards the younger group age 5-8, so would be more difficult. My daughter, 7, didn't mind as she liked the dancing and singing. Hopefully, we can continue and there would be more parts/lines in the older group. Only other comment from her was that she wished for camp to be longer, as well as I as the parent and that the last day be a little longer for more child care time than just the morning performance. Otherwise, she had a lot of fund and would definitely want to sign up again in the future.

My daughter attended the musical theater summer camp for the first time this year and absolutely loved it. She came home every day telling us how much fun she was having. They only had four days to prepare and everyone did so great knowing their lines and positions. I was very impressed! This is definitely something my daughter is passionate about so I am so glad there is an opportunity for her to continue lessons during the school year.

We are here to vouch for Miss Melissa’s skill in teaching Ballet II. Lilah had Miss Melissa as her teacher and loved her. I was also impressed with her teaching skills and her ability to keep up the pace. The students enjoy her class very much!! She also focuses on her students individually. She is very much aware of their individual progress!

My daughters have been attending the SPAA Carmel Valley studio since they were 3 and it has been a delightful experience for the whole family. They are happy to go and always look forward to their classes.
I highly recommend SPAA for children who are interested in learning ballet, other dances and musical theater. The studio has a great atmosphere, with friendly and experienced teachers and staff, who are passionate about teaching and also making a difference in your children's life. I have seen my daughter flourish into a confident ballerina over the past 4 years.
The studio offers a variety of classes for all ages and skill levels. The classes are well-organized and the teachers are loving, patient and encouraging.
When the pandemic hit, the SPAA team quickly pivoted to a virtual format while preparing the outdoor studio. They were flexible and continued to support each student and family during these tough times.
The SPAA team is also very creative, we absolutely love the performances they offer each year, the quality, the passion and the effort that go behind are outstanding! Each year, we look forward to our children performing in the Nutcracker, not only they teach them great ballet techniques, but also great skills for life.
I would definitely recommend SPAA to anyone who is looking for a great place for their child to learn ballet!

My 9 year old daughter has been taking Musical Theater and Hip Hop for 2 years. She loves her teachers and is having a blast. I have loved watching her develop new skills beyond dancing. She has come out of her shell with some new found stage presence- memorizing lines, projecting her voice, and learning to work together as a team. Her mentors have built up her self confidence and made this experience fun for her. We love SPAA! Oh, we went to the annual Nutcracker Performance and were blown away by the talent! Highly recommend!

My daughter joined the Wish camp last summer, and she had a grand time. The performance was really cute and I was pretty impressed how quickly they were able to create a little show in a short amount of time. I think the teachers are very effective at teaching young kids. We definitely would come back for more.

My 6-year old had an amazing camp experience at SPAA! The content was age appropriate, the program was organized, and the performance at the end of the camp was just adorable!

SRPAA has been the best intro into the dance world for my 3 yr old daughter. She has been raving about the camps since her second day. Three weeks of camps later, she’s doing ad hoc performances for anyone who will give her the opportunity!! She’s pretty discerning and doesn’t open up quickly to new people, but she definitely found her people here. I have since convinced a few friends to send their kids and have only heard great things from them as well. I’m signing up my 5 yr old son for hip hop classes and pre ballet for my daughter for fall and can’t wait to see their confidence continue grow on and off the stage!!

My daughters have been at SPAA since they were quite young. Their dance program is fantastic, and provides an excellent focus on technique. Not a competition studio, which some may not prefer (I am thankful!), but there are performance opportunities. The dancers take a very well-rounded variety of classes vs a pure focus on ballet. The upper devision is a huge commitment time wise, but SPAA is like a second home for these kids at that point. Or maybe a first home! Theatre classes when my kids were younger were AMAZING as well. And summer camps were always a blast.

My daughter loves her pre-ballet class and her summer camp “Frozen”. Ms Mellisa is her favorite teacher. She’s always happy to go to the class and enjoying so much. Thanks so much for all the teachers at Scripps Performing Art.

My son really enjoyed the Willy Wonka Summer Camp at the Scripps Performing Arts Academy Scripps Ranch! He does not usually like camps, this is the first one he has ever liked. He enjoyed the activities, crafts, singing, and the performance they did. It was great, after only 4 days they put on a performance that was really cute. The teachers and staff were so positive, friendly, and welcoming. Even though this was my son't first real performing arts experience he felt comfortable there, he also made new friends. My son and I give The Scripps Performing Arts Academy Scripps Ranch 5 stars!

My daughter has been dancing since she was 3 years old. We are a military family, so we have moved often. She has tried many dance studios over the years, but this has been her favorite by far. My daughter and our family -- love this studio and would love to stay long term.
The dancers at this studio seem to be close both in and outside the studio. They focus on their own dancing and growth. The instructors have been wonderful. When they have choreography, they teach it very well. Corrections are always thoughtful, concise, precise, and individualized. These are things we looked for when searching for a studio. My daughter does not like it when the corrections are generic and generalized. Also, I have never heard an instructor or director yell or even raise their voice at any child -- even during stressful, tech week rehearsals. My communication with the directors, Miss Angela and especially Miss Miah (most of my communication is with Miss Miah), has been phenomenal. I rarely ever feel lost or in the dark about things. If I ever have questions, am ever confused about something, or ever have a question, Miss Miah has always been very good at responding, communicating, and receiving/giving feedback. We were at another studio, not even in CA, with no intent of ever attending this studio, and Miss Miah provided me with a wealth of information regarding pointe shoes and her philosophy regarding pointe, and how to properly prepare for pointe. It really impressed me. When we ended up moving to San Diego a year later, my daughter tried this studio and a couple others, but she LOVED this studio. Every once in a while I will ask her how it is going and if she wants to change studios, but she always looks at me like I am crazy because she knows, we both know, how rare this studio truly is. They may not be a competition studio, and they may not have your typical recital (they only put on dance productions - eg Nutcracker, La Boutique, Into the Woods etc), so this studio may not be for EVERYONE. But if you are looking for high quality, individualized instruction where the health and well being of your child is prioritized and fostered, this studio may be a perfect fit for you. We have been with the studio for 2 years now. We will be returning for a third year. If we ever move, I know we will be sad. I have waited so long to write this review despite me having strong, positive feelings about the studio because I wanted to be sure this studio was genuine and it continued to be a positive experience. We have had some horrible experiences with other studios over the years, so we are a little more selective and sometimes more leery than your average person. But SPAA's communication, instruction, costumes, music, productions, and their end of school year reviews of the students have been fabulous. My daughter's technique has improved tremendously, and her pointe work has dramatically improved. No studio is perfect, but this studio has been my daughter's second home. Oh, also I should mention that my daughter is in the upper levels, and they can be time consuming, but she loves it. However, the large amount of hours may not be what all dancers are looking for; SPAA does have a teen program that allows dancers to dance but at a more casual pace. I love that they really try to meet everyone where they are at because not everyone wants to dance professionally or as often as what is sometimes required at the higher level/ages.

Scripps Performing Arts Academy is truly amazing! My daughter started with them at age 3.5 in their summer camps and is now 8 years old. She has taken part in ballet, hip hop and musical theater classes while attending SPAA. I have personally seen her grow from a toddler who cried when I dropped her off to a confident young lady who performs onstage for the annual nutcracker. The teachers are kind and gentle. They truly care about the children. The director has a vision that transcends ballet—teaching life skills, passion and love. I highly recommend SPAA. My daughter loves this school.
