Scripps Ballet Theatre’s 16th Anniversary Season Finale
Join Scripps Ballet Theatre for the exciting closing performance of their 16th season, featuring dancers from the Lower and Upper Divisions of Scripps Performing Arts Academy in a stunning, fast-paced 30-minute program of classical and contemporary dance.
Audiences will be transported by the elegance of the classical world through a beautifully curated selection of works, including a breathtaking classical variation from The Sleeping Beauty and a delightful, original comedic classical duet.
The program continues with Beyond Technique, our celebrated contemporary series with a deep focus on storytelling through dance. This year’s performance showcases the full company of multi-talented dancers exploring a rich variety of movement, including:

A soul-stirring lyrical solo by dance maker Audrey Bondoc.

The powerful revival of The Wave, choreographed by Becca Newton and first performed by SBT in 2022.

An upbeat and inspiring Musical Theatre Jazz piece by Natalia Hill.

Fresh, compelling new contemporary works by student choreographers Emme Chan and Bella Cumba.

Step into a lush, vibrant landscape where a single flower is a skyscraper and a lily pad is a stage. Our Spring production of Thumbelina reimagines the classic Hans Christian Andersen fairytale as a visually stunning, high-stakes adventure for all ages.
Born from a flower and measuring no taller than a thumb, our heroine finds herself swept away from the safety of her home. Follow Thumbelina’s courageous journey through the Great Outdoors as she encounters a cast of eccentric characters- from the boisterous Toad family and the sophisticated Mr. Mole to the kind-hearted Swallow who promises her a way home.
Run Time: Approx. 90 minutes (including one 15-minute intermission).
Rating: G (Perfect for families, schools, and fans of classic folklore).

Scripps Ballet Theatre’s Ballet and Beyond
Join Scripps Ballet Theatre for the exciting closing performance of their 15th season, featuring dancers from the Lower and Upper Divisions of Scripps Performing Arts Academy in a stunning evening of classical and contemporary dance.
Audiences will be transported by the elegance of Le Corsaire through the ballet’s most iconic moments, including the Le Corsaire Pas de Deux, Jardin Animé, and the Odalisque Pas de Trois, along with selected variations from other beloved classical works.
The evening continues with Beyond Technique XV, our celebrated mixed repertory program showcasing both new and favorite contemporary works. This year’s performance features the full company of multi-talented dancers exploring neoclassical and contemporary movement in exciting new pieces by guest choreographers Natasha Ridley and Becca Newton, a revival of a classic work by Miah Nwosu, and original choreography by student artists Andrea Chan and Jiada Friscia.
This dynamic program celebrates artistry, innovation, and the next generation of dance.

Experience the holiday magic of Tchaikovsky’s The Nutcracker, performed by dancers ages 3.5 to 18 from Scripps Performing Arts Academy and Scripps Ballet Theatre. Enjoy the full-length production at the Garfield Theatre or the abridged version at the Nutcracker Holiday Tea at The Fairmont Grand Del Mar. A San Diego tradition, this enchanting performance delights audiences with its timeless story and captivating choreography.
